Thailand IX Solidifies Its Position as Thailand’s Leading Neutral IXP at the NT Data Center Roadshow 2025

Throughout October and November 2025, Thailand IX, the leading Neutral Internet Exchange Point (IXP) in Thailand, joined forces with NT Data Center, the country’s premier data center infrastructure provider. Together, they launched the NT Data Center Roadshow 2025, a nationwide initiative aimed at engaging local enterprises and driving regional digital transformation across Thailand, from north to south.

Over the course of three weeks, we traveled across Thailand’s key economic regions. Rather than just showcasing services, the tour also served as a collaborative platform to exchange insights with regional businesses and address their distinct network connectivity challenges. Our takeaway was clear: robust digital infrastructure is no longer exclusive to major metropolitan hubs; it has become the critical foundation for economic growth in every corner of the country.

Connecting the Lanna Region, Enabling Digital Business Opportunities

Northern Thailand has established itself as a premier global hub for digital nomads. Notably, Forbes Magazine ranked Chiang Mai Province eighth among the world’s top cities for digital nomads and content creators, citing its affordable cost of living and supportive working environment.

Additionally, Pai in Mae Hong Son Province is rapidly earning its reputation as the “Silicon Valley of Thailand.” Northern Thailand boasts a powerful ecosystem for innovation and digital technology, evidenced by the growing number of tech enterprises establishing operations there.

To support this expanding ecosystem, Thailand IX and NT Data Center kicked off their roadshow in Northern Thailand on October 29th-30th, 2025 at the Eastin Tan Hotel Chiang Mai.

Overcoming latency in Northern Thailand

Q&A Session during the session from Thailand IX

While Chiang Mai Province thrives as a tech-nomad hub, its geographic distance from Bangkok and major regional cloud routing hubs like Singapore. This challenge inherently creates network latency as its by product.

At the conference, Thailand IX introduced its Neutral IXP services to local businesses, demonstrating how decentralized Internet Exchange services directly solve these issues. By routing traffic locally, businesses can significantly reduce latency, increase connection stability, and optimize bandwidth efficiency.

The response was highly positive. Numerous regional service providers expressed immediate interest, inquiring about integration details, including a clear indicator of the rising demand for high-performance connectivity aligned with the North’s booming digital economy.

Empowering Isan’s digital ecosystem with Thailand’s largest IXP network

Northeastern Thailand, commonly known as Isan, represents a massive growth market for Thailand’s digital sector. With its large population and strategic location bordering Laos and Cambodia. Isan is uniquely positioned to become an international digital gateway.

For local businesses to achieve global scale, access to high-quality internet infrastructure is essential. The primary barrier to success has traditionally been the high cost and complexity of securing reliable, international-grade connectivity.

To address this, Thailand IX and NT Data Center brought the roadshow to Isan on November 5th-6th, 2025 at Ad Lib Hotel Khon Kaen.

Lowering connectivity costs for regional enterprises

A core focus of this leg was demonstrating cost optimization. Compared to routing traffic through traditional international links, Isan enterprises can drastically lower operational overhead by peering directly via Thailand IX.

This approach allows businesses to connect seamlessly with leading global cloud providers and internet infrastructure networks, pushing the region closer to its potential as the “Northeastern Digital Gateway.”

World-Class Connectivity, Locally Accessible

By peering with Thailand IX, businesses gain direct access to the world’s largest internet infrastructure networks through a single connection.

Our extensive ecosystem features global cloud giants and content providers, including the premiere global cloud providers like Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Alibaba Cloud, Tencent Cloud, with Google Cloud recently joining the ecosystem. In addition, Cloudflare, Akamai, as well as local cloud computing providers are a part of the class-leading IXP of Thailand with Thailand IX.

Digital enterprises across Isan warmly received the initiative, underscoring their readiness to upgrade corporate network infrastructures to compete effectively on a global scale.

Driving Economy in Southern Thailand: The Gateway to ASEAN Connectivity

Hat Yai, located in Songkhla Province, stands as one of Thailand’s most critical economic engines. Sharing a border with Malaysia and boasting comprehensive transport links, including an international airport, rail networks, and major highways. As such, Hat Yai serves as a natural geographic bridge connecting Thailand to the broader ASEAN region.

Digital infrastructure has become the defining catalyst for Hat Yai’s commercial evolution. Proximity to Malaysia accelerates cross-border digital commerce, prompting a visible surge in homegrown technology startups and digital enterprises expanding throughout the province.

To align with this rapid economic acceleration, Thailand IX and NT Data Center concluded their tour in Southern Thailand on November 12th-13th, 2025 at Centara Hotel Hat Yai, Songkhla Province.

With More Than 30 Years of Trusted Network Peering
